Iowa Lakes Community College Jazz Camp June 17-21
(Estherville)-The ILCC Jazz Camp is about to get underway. KUOO's Becky Thoreson has details:
The 38th Iowa Lakes Community College Jazz Camp will be held June 17-21.
Instrumental Music Professor Carol Ayres says area students clinic and perform with top musicians. "We call them The Headliners. Roger Neumann from Los Angeles, California, Dr. CJ Kocher from Vermillion, South Dakota. We have Michael Gurciullo from Omaha, Nebraska, Dan Cassady, then we have our rhythm section people. We have Scott Hesse, a guitar player from Chicago, Andy Hall, he's the bass player for Marilyn Maye, and then we have Tony Gulizia on keyboards and vocals and Joey Gulizia on percussion."
She notes that a number of concerts are on tap next week. "On Monday night, they will be playing with the Dick Baumann Big Band. On Tuesday night, they have a concert in Thoreson Park in Estherville. Wednesday night they're featured by themselves at the Pearson Lakes Art Center, and then Thursday, we have two camper concerts. The first one's at 3:30 in the afternoon, and then in the evening, we have the big bands. Then when that's all over, we head out to Little Swan Lake Winery to wind up the Jazz Camp."
