Iowa Lakes Community College Coffee House Series Kicks Off October 11th
(Estherville)-It's the first Coffee House of the season at Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville on Tuesday evening.
KUOO's Becky Thoreson has details:
The popular Iowa Lakes Community College Coffee House Series kicks off for the new school year Tuesday evening in Estherville.
Instrumental Music Professor Carol Ayers says the concert will start at a new time. "We're starting at 6:30 now. Lots of people asked us to please start earlier, so we're going to try that, at least for our first one, so we'll be at 6:30 in the Student Cafeteria called The Max."
She adds that a wide variety of styles will be showcased at the concert. "We're going to have a whole bunch of soloists, its really exciting this early in the school year to have students who want to sing. We have some community people who are singing, we have a trumpet player, the Handbells are going to play, the Concert Choir is going to sing, jazz singers and the Jazz Band, and the men's group, so we have a little bit of everything."
Ayres notes that admission and refreshments are free. "It's a very casual event, you can come and go, we have snacks, coffee, tea or lemonade, so its not just coffee, a little something for everybody."
The Coffee House will be held in the Estherville Student Center of Iowa Lakes, starting at 6:30 Tuesday evening.
