(Estherville)-Junior and High School students will compete in the Rodeo in Estherville this weekend, KUOO's Becky Thoreson has details:

Iowa Jr. High & High School Rodeo in Estherville May 5-6 

The Iowa Junior High and High School Rodeo will be held in Estherville this weekend.

Co-Chair Crystal Pluth says contestants come from across the region for the event. "They come from all over the State of Iowa, we get a few from Nebraska, Missouri and sometimes Minnesota."

She adds that a full schedule of events is planned both Saturday and Sunday.  "Saturday morning we'll have Girl's Cutting and Boy's Cutting, then we have break-away roping, calf roping, ribbon roping, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, a really fun one - saddle bronc steer riding.  We have bareback horse riding, chute dogging, team riding, bull riding, barrel racing, and then we'll also have goat tying and pole bending.  The Cutting is only on Saturday morning, but all the other events are both Saturday and Sunday."

Admission is free, with concessions available for purchase at the Emmet County Fairgrounds.

Sunday:    7:30 am 

Full Rodeo Performance 9:30 am Sunday.
