Iowa DPH Reports Nine Additional Deaths From COVID-19 Along With 331 New Cases
(Des Moines)-- The Iowa Department of Public Health reported today (Thurs.) nine more deaths in the state from COVID-19 along with 331 new cases of the virus. That brings the total number of cases in Iowa so far to 22,785 with the total number deaths at 638.
Health officials say 13,806 cases have recovered.
Statewide, the department says 20 patients with COVID-19 were admitted to hospitals in the past 24 hours with a total of 242 hospitalizations. Of those, 75 were in intensive care with 48 on ventilators.
In northwest Iowa, 75 patients were hospitalized with the virus. 28 were in intensive care with 20 of those on ventilators.
Public health officials say northwest Iowa currently has 86 ventilators available along with 109 ICU beds and 514 inpatient beds.
