Investigation of E-Cigarette use by a Minor results in multiple Drug Charges in Emmet County

(Estherville)-The Emmet County Sheriff's Office says an investigation by a Sheriff's Deputy in regard to underage e-cigarette use resulted int he arrest of one person for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and multiple drug charges recently in Emmet County.
According to Emmet County Sheriff Mike Martens, the Deputy on patrol December 8th at 6:52 pm observed what was believed to be an underage person using an e-cigarette in a vehicle. Contact with the occupants of the vehicle was made at the Casey's West parking lot in Estherville.
Upon investigation at the scene, controlled substances, drug paraphernalia and an open container of alcohol were located in the vehicle. The driver, Chanceller Steelman, age 18 of Terrill, was placed under arrest and transported to the Emmet County Jail where he was booked for Operating While Intoxicated, Possession of a Controlled Substance (marijuana) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Additionally, a 16 year old male was taken into custody and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, as well as a 17 year old female who was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Alcohol under Legal Age. Both juveniles were released to the custody of a parent.
