ILEC Warning Some Of Its Customers May Experience Power Outages Due To Ice Build Up On Lines
(Estherville)-- Officials with Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative are warning some of their customers of the potential for power outages due to heavy amounts of ice on power lines and transmission equipment.
The utility says the problem is most noticeable in Buena Vista, Pocahontas, Palo Alto and northern Kossuth counties within its service territory.
ILEC officials say there may be scattered outages in those areas overnight tonight (Tuesday). Those should be reported by calling 800-225-4532.
In addition, the utility says they're concerned Wednesday's forecast will result in conditions where the ice will unload off overhead facilities potentially causing widespread power outages in the previously mentioned counties. ILEC says with that in mind, crews may need to selectively de-energize facilities as needed to mitigate extended outages and damages. They regret any inconvenience it may cause.
Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative also reminds everyone to stay away from downed power lines.
