ILEC Officials Say Power Supply Situation Has Improved Somewhat But Remains A Major Concern

Mon 2-15-2021

(Estherville)-- Officials with Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative announced late this (Monday) afternoon the region's power supply has improved and that their transmission operator, Southwest Power Pool, downgraded from an emergency level 3 to emergency level 2.

Having said that, ILEC officials say SSP may once again start rolling blackouts should the situation deteriorate once again. They add any outages would be no longer than 45 minutes.

Earlier today (Monday) ILEC had one substation de-energized for about a half hour.

Residents all across the region are urged to conserve on electricity as much as possible tonight (Monday) into Tuesday.
