ILCC Veteran's Day Program To Be Held Virtually This Year
(Emmetsburg)-- This year's Veteran's Day program at Iowa Lakes Community College will be held virtually due to the pandemic. Tim Ireland, Career/Veteran/Military Services Coordinator says the program will be made available starting at 11:00 am Wednesday through a link on the college's website at www.iowalakes.edu as well as their Facebook page...
"We'll have the choir, we'll sing the National Anthem. We'll have our hand bell team will be playing America The Beautiful. We'll have a guest speaker, that's Melissa Lutat. She's one of our instructors here. And we'll have, Dan Lutat, will be the master of ceremony. So we'll have a husband and wife team doing all of the talking and stuff and then the choir and the band will be playing hand bells."
Ireland says student senates at several ILCC campuses will also be honoring veterans...
"On the Emmetsburg Estherville and Spencer campuses we have honor trees that are set up and they're going on now and of course they're on display. And the Estherville and Spencer, in Spencer student senators will host a free meal over the lunch hour for laker veterans including students, faculty and staff."
Ireland says 10 faculty and staff members at ILCC have over 150 years of military service combined, and that 25 students are using some type of military educational benefits.
