(Spirit Lake)-- Trustees of Iowa Lakes Community College set tuition and fees for the upcoming school year at their meeting Tuesday in Spirit Lake. Tuition for Iowa students will be $172 per credit hour for the 2017-2018 college year, while Minnesota residents will pay $177. Tuition for non-residents and international students was set at $183 per credit hour. Mandatory fees were increased by $5.50. Adjustments were also made to various course and program fees.
Trustees also approved a changeorder for the student services addition at the Emmetsburg campus, reducing the cost of the project by a little more than $32,000.
A contract was awarded on the addition at the Algona campus. The project was awarded to Larson Contracting of Lake Mills which submitted a bid of just under $1.5 million. The contract was awarded following a public hearing.
Trustees also held a public hearing and awarded a bid on the performing arts center to be constructed at the Estherville campus. That project was awarded to Christensen Construction of Estherville which submitted the low base bid of $6.38 million.
Trustees also learned that some additional issues have been found with the roof replacement project at the Spencer campus and that it will likely result in the cost of the project going up.
ILCC trustees also Tuesday approved a one-year master contract which includes a 2.7 percent increase in salaries for the 2017-18 fiscal year.
