Chamber CEO Blain Andera says early bird sign up for the bike ride ends today (Wed.), with the cost going up five dollars after that...Andera & Oktoberfest01

"Lots of fun activities. Registration gets you a long sleeve t-shirt and a free drink ticket. Shirts and Skins are going to be playing at Preservation Plaza from noon until 4:00. A couple of other items that you need to pre-register for if you want to do it is the bags tournament, so we encourage people to do that. It's a two-person team. And then Arnolds Park Amusement Park is going to be doing a human foosball tournament so that's another one that pre-registration is required for."

That's in addition to a number of other events that will be going for Oktoberfest...Andera & Oktoberfest02

"You think of Oktoberfest you think stein holding contest, keg toss, hammerschlagen, we've got all that stuff. Plus fun activities for the kids and family. We've got inflatables and then Arnolds Park is going to bring out kiddie rides from the amusement park out on to Preservation Plaza. New this year is a vendor show from 10:00 to 5:00. We've got over 20 vendors that have registered so far, and folks can still do that. If you're a business in the lakes area or if you know of somebody that would like to be a vendor, uofooktoberfest.com and click on that."

Andera also announced the return of Fall Festival coming up in October...Andera & Oktoberfest03

"The Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber is hosting this along with Camp Foster and it will be on Saturday, October 17th from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm at Camp Foster. We've got a lot of fun activities planned out there. They're going to be doing hay rides and pony rides, trick or treating, inflatables, games, crafts, things like that. Everything outdoors for the kiddos. If you've been at Camp Foster you can picture where all the different cabins are, we're going to have a trail marked where folks can just take their kiddos and go around to the different cabins and visit businesses and different entities that are out there putting on activities for the kids."
