(Arnolds Park)-- An iconic restaurant in the Iowa Great Lakes is changing hands. Duane Zahradnik has announced he's selling Yesterday's in Arnolds Park...Yesterdays01

"First of all I'd like to thank my employees who made this all possible the last 33 years and thank my valued customers. It's been a great run for 33 years. As I get older it's time to think about retiring. I am going to stay on this year to do all the catering and consult with Jenny, the new owner, and looking forward to doing that. All of the contracts and the parties that we have booked are going to be honored and I've contacted all of them and we're just going to proceed as normal through the summer."

Zahradnik thanks his family, customers and employees for their support over all the years...Yesterdays02

"I can't count on two hands the number of employees that I met there and are married now and have children and to see how one of my kids who were dishwashers is now my orthopedic surgeon it's just been the friends I made it's just been a, it's been work but it's been fun and I enjoyed going in every day which is something I'm probably going to miss."

Zahradnik says he's looking forward to spending more time with his family and plans to do some traveling.

New owner Jennifer Phelps Ferrell has 20 years of restaurant and catering experience. She tells KUOO news she plans to operate the restaurant the same as in the past...Yesterdays03

"I think part of what makes Yesterday's so special to the people that live here year around and to those that come and bring their families here year after year is the tradition of it, what they know, what they've come to love. So there will be little to no changes, especially in the next few years as I figure out how Duane and the Zahradnik family were so successful and what, just to get things running and off the ground. I like it the way it is and it's always been successful that way and I hope to do the same."

Ferrell says they intend to open for the season mid-May.
