Hwy 86 Head-On Crash Involving Semi And Car Injures Teen
(Lakefield, Mn.)-- A head-on collision Wednesday evening on Highway 86 about a mile north of the Iowa/Minnesota border injured a Lakefield teen.
The Minnesota State Patrol says 25-year-old Jamika Antwine of Arlington, Texas was driving a 2017 Volvo semi southbound and was attempting to pass a slower vehicle in a no-passing zone when he collided head-on with a northbound 2000 Honda Accord driven by 17-year-old Taylor Shaunce of Lakefield.
Shaunce was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. No injuries were reported to Antwine.
The Minnesota State Patrol was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, Dickinson County Sheriff's Office, the Lakefield Police and Fire Departments, the Spirit Lake Fire Department and Lakes Regional Healthcare ambulance and paramedics.
The crash resulted in Highway 86 from Highway 9 north to the Minnesota border being closed for awhile last (Wed.) evening.
