Humane Society of Northwest Iowa to host "Howl-o-Ween" Fundraiser October 20
(Spirit Lake)-An important fundraiser is on tap for The Humane Society of Northwest Iowa this weekend, KUOO's Becky Thoreson has details:
The Humane Society of Northwest Iowa will hold their Howl-O-Ween fundraiser on Saturday evening.
Board Member Tammy Hamlin says the event will include a costume contest for pets and their owners. "We are having a Howl-o-Ween contest and fundraiser for our animals here at the shelter. We encourage everyone to come in costume. Great food, great line-up, great fun. Of course, the most exciting thing is our list of fun things to bid on. My favorite is the Paul McCartney signed bass guitar. We're excited about that. So, we encourage everyone to come out and help our community help our pets."
She notes that proceeds will help with important services that the shelter provides. "Vet bills are huge. So many times we have animals that come in that need serious attention, or have developed some sort of an injury or hit by a car, or kittens that need us. Also, spaying, neutering. Those are two of the most important things we can do to keep our animal population down in our community."
Howl-O-Ween will be held at the Okoboji Brewing Company in Spirit Lake from 5-7 Saturday evening.
