Hot Weather Causing Issues With Pavement Buckling Or Blow-ups
Fri 6-10-2016
(Mankato, Mn.)-- Motorists are being told to be on the lookout for buckling pavement during the extreme heat. The buckling, or blow-ups, happen when extremely warm weather causes pavement to expand, forcing it up over adjoining expansion joints. The problem is most notable with concrete pavement.
There have been several incidents of buckling or blow-ups reported to the Minnesota Department of Transportation on portions of Highways 15, 60 and 169.
