(Estherville)-Area high school choirs will join the Iowa Lakes Community College Choir for the Heartland Honor Choir on Thursday evening.
KUOO's Becky Thoreson has details:
Eight area high school choirs will join forces to create the Heartland Honor Choir on Thursday evening at Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville.
Vocal Music Professor Brett Fuelberth explains. "We'll have over 120 singers that are here from a variety of area high schools. The Directors have chosen singers from their high school that they feel would benefit from coming to an honor choir. The all join forces along with our Iowa Lakes Community College Choir, which kind of serves as a mentor choir for them, and we practice throughout the day, and we put on a concert in the evening. It's really a thrill to get all these singers together and have a choir that big, and the remarkable sound that they're able to produce in a large choir like that."
He adds that the Honor choir will be conducted by Dr. Rhonda Fuelberth.
"She is my sister-in-law. She is from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. She has been the conductor of numerous All-State and festival choirs across the Midwest especially. So this is the first time in my 19 years here that she has been able to come up and work with students here, and it's really just going to be an educational day. Students should learn a lot and create a great sound under Dr. Fuelberth."
The Concert will begin at 6 pm Thursday evening at the Estherville Campus gymnasium at Iowa Lakes Community College. Admission is $5 for adults and free for students.
