Grand Meander Coming Up This (Mon. 12/03) Evening In Spencer

(Spencer)-- A longstanding holiday tradition will be held this (Mon.) evening in downtown Spencer. Nancy Naeve of Spencer Mainstreet says they'll be hold their annual Grand Meander on Grand Avenue beginning at 5:00 pm...Grand Meander01 

"Starting at H & N, we'll have dancers there and hot cocoa, and then as you move south, Grand Avenue Outreach is going to be doing some stuff again this year; Karry's you can write a letter to Santa and put it in the mailbox, we'll make sure Santa gets it, what your wishes are and what you're thankful for. There's going to be the Clay County Pals, are going to do their pizza party, they have that every year at Pizza Ranch and she said they're doing something new this year which is exciting. Bethany Lutheran is going to be in Adventure Staffing. They're going to be making blankets they give away to people who need them. They're going to have popcorn and some treats inside too. So the windows will both be busy then go inside and get some popcorn. We're going to have three different ice sculptures. It starts literally with a block of ice and then the artists are going to take a chainsaw and carve out something."

In addition, the Spencer High School FFA Chapter will have some farm animals on hand, an air brush painting artist will be putting on some demonstrations, People For Pets will be at the old White Drug building, a special event will be going on at the Spencer Library, Homemade soup and pie will be served at the Masonic Temple, there will be a piano recital, and a Tuba Christmas gets underway at 6:30 this (Mon.) evening at the old Spencer Middle School.

Highlighting the evening will be an appearance by Santa Clause...Grand Meander02 

"He's leaving from the fire department, he'll have a police escort in the front, fire department in the back. We'll ride slowly down Grand, we'll light up the Tree of Joy in front of the Police Department. We should be there about 6:15 and you can take pictures with Santa if you want."

This marks the 32nd year for the Grand Meander.
