Graettinger Man Cited In Weekend Crash That Caused Significant Property Damage
(Spencer)-- A Graettinger man was issued citations in connection with a crash early Saturday in Clay county that caused significant property damage.
The Sheriff's Office says 20-year-old Walker Nelson was driving a 2011 Dodge Ram northbound in the 3700 mile of 280th Avenue, or County Road M54. Authorities say the vehicle crossed the center line and went into the west ditch, colliding with a fence and a utility pole before coming to rest on top of an electrical box.
Upon investigating deputies determined Nelson was allegedly under the influence and was in possession of alcohol. He was cited for failure to maintain control and minor in possession of alcohol.
The Clay County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Dickens Fire Department, Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative and Bud's Service.
The crash took place around 3:44 am.
