Governor's Office Announces Extension Of Deadline To Apply For Federal Flood Assistance
(Des Moines)-- The Governor's Office announced Friday the deadline to apply for federal flood disaster assistance through the Individual Assistance Grant Program has been extended to May 12th. Counties covered under the extension locally include Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Kossuth, O'Brien, Palo Alto and Sioux.
The program provides grants up to $5,000 for qualifying residents with incomes up to 200 percent of the federal poverty level or a maximum annual income of $41,560 for a family of three. Grants are available for car repairs, replacement of clothing or food and temporary housing expenses. More information can be found at the Iowa Department of Human Services website.
The extension also applies to the Disaster Case Management Program.
