Fri 3-20-2020

(Des Moines)-- Governor Kim Reynolds this (Fri.) morning issued an additional State Public Health Emergency Declaration effective immediately. The measure provides additional regulatory relief to Iowans impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

The declaration waives the late penalty on property tax payments through April 16th, 2020; it temporarily suspends some evictions; extends the expiration deadline for a permit to carry and a permit to acquire a firearm along with some additional related measures; and it permits the sale of carry-out, delivery, drive-thru of alcohol for unopened bottles of alcohol for bars and restaurants and suspends some fees.

The measure also permits public meetings or hearings to be conducted by electronic means; it suspends certain regulations to ease the transportation of agricultural supplies and commodities; and allows related state agencies to implement the state's public health emergency plan.

The Governor will release additional details into the declaration at a press conference scheduled for 2:00 this (Fri.) afternoon.
