(Des Moines)-- Governor Kim Reynolds announced today (Wed.) she will be lifting the 50 percent capacity limits for businesses effective this Friday, June 12th...
"Effective Friday, June 12th, at 8:00 am, the 50 percent capacity limit currently in place for businesses will be lifted. While retaining the requirements of six feet social distancing for certain businesses like restaurants, bars and theatres. Eliminating the capacity restrictions will allow businesses the flexibility to adjust their specific operations accordingly to best meet the needs of their employees and customers."
Reynolds adds establishments will still be required to adopt measures to make sure social distancing, increased hygiene measures and other precautions are taken that are consistent with guidelines from the Department of Public Health. She says swimming pools, senior centers and adult day care centers may also reopen provided they meet the guidelines.
Health officials continue to urge everyone to continue taking the necessary precautions and that it's up to individuals, especially those in high risk groups, to decide what they feel comfortable with when deciding whether or not to go out and about. Dr. Caitlyn Pedati of the Iowa Department of Public Health says the best advice for those folks is that they continue to stay home.
