Fundraising for Phase II of Lakes Area Dog Park Underway
(Okoboji)-The Lakes Area Dog Park is moving forward with fundraising efforts for phase 2 of the project, KUOO's Becky Thoreson has details:
Fundraising efforts for phase 2 of the Lakes Area Dog Park are getting underway.
Organizer Amy Pas explains. "We raised enough money for the first phase, which was basically buying the fence and putting it in, and getting it open so people could start to use it, and we did that last fall. Right now, we're starting to raise money for phase 2, which is basically just to finish the Park. Phase 2 will include gravel for the parking lot and two dog and human watering stations, one for each area of the Park. And then, smoothing off a little bit of rough ground, and some open air either shade trees or open air shade-like shelters."
She adds that volunteers were instrumental in helping with the first phase of the project.
"I want to thank so much the people that gave money. People sent in money and volunteered their time, and, we saved ourselves $22,000 just by putting in the fence ourselves with volunteers, and so, the public help on this has just been outstanding. We're very thankful for everybody that's come together for this project and we really want to make it nice for the area.
