Front Brings Strong Wind But Very Little Rain With It
(Spirit Lake)-- A gust front associated with some showers and decaying thunderstorms made its way through the region this (Friday) morning.
40 to 50 mph gusts were reported in some locations, blowing around loose objects. Visibility in some open areas was even briefly reduced by blowing dust.
Some tree damage was reported in spots and in at least one case, a boat hoist was toppled over on the north side of East Lake Okoboji near the fish hatchery (as shown in photo).
The front, however, didn't bring much rain with it. Only two one-hundredths of an inch, or a little more than a trace, fell at the KUOO studios.
