(Okoboji)-Auditions for a special play are about to get underway, KUOO's Becky Thoreson has the story:

Friends of Lakeside Lab seeking performers for the play "Nature"

The Friends of Iowa Lakeside Laboratory are seeking community members to participate in a performance of the play Nature.

Executive Director Lisa Roti explains.  "We're searching for people that would enjoy being part of the community chorus.  The play itself runs about 90 minutes, and what makes it incredibly unique is that it's actually a walking play.  The actors and the audience actually walk, less than a half mile, for the whole performance, but they're able to move the scenes with the actors and the chorus. So, the chorus will not only be singing, but they'll actually be walking along with the entire troupe and the audience at Lakeside Lab."

She adds that there's a special role for a girl in the production.  "She would be between 8 and 10 years of age, and she would actually play Ellen Emerson, or Ellie, Ralph Waldo Emerson's daughter, so it is a unique opportunity for a young actress in our community.  We will be having auditions for this role at the end of April.  The performer should have a strong voice, and if she has any singing or dancing skills that would be a plus, too."

Performances will be held in August.

Anyone interested should contact Lisa Roti at Lakeside Lab 712.337.3669 extension 1
