Fire Heavily Damages Poultry Operation

(Sioux Rapids)-- No injuries have been reported in a fire Monday that extensively damaged a poultry operation just north of Sioux Rapids. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says it was notified of the blaze around 8:22 a.m. Upon arriving sheriff’s deputies and firefighters determined no one was in the building.
Fire departments from Sioux Rapids, Royal, Peterson and Webb endured zero degree weather while battling the blaze.
An undetermined amount of chickens were lost. A dollar amount of the loss, along with a damage estimate to the building, weren’t immediately available.
Firefighters were on the scene until about 4:30 p.m.
There was no immediate word on a probable cause.
