Fertilizer Truck Rollover Sends One Person To Hospital

(Peterson)-- A Greenville man was injured when semi pulling a trailer loaded with fertilizer overturned this (Wed.) morning in Peterson.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office says 21-year-old Hunter White of Greenville was driving a 1996 Peterbilt pulling a 2016 tender trailer. Authorities say White failed to negotiate a curve at the intersection of Clay County Road M27 and 4th Street. The semi turned over, coming to rest on the passenger side.

An unknown amount of bulk fertilizer spilled from the trailer.

White was taken to Spencer Hospital by private vehicle for treatment of non-incapacitating injuries.

Damage to the Peterbilt tractor was estimated at $50,000 while the trailer sustained an estimated $71,000. The fertilizer that spilled was estimated at $8,000.

Authorities say the rig and fertilizer is owned by Spencer Agronomy Services.

White was cited for failure to maintain control.

The crash took place around 8:40 am this (Wed.) morning.
