FEMA Denies Request For Individual Assistance For Dickinson County Filed In Response To Flooding Earlier This Spring & Summer
(Des Moines)-- Governor Kim Reynolds announced late Wednesday her request has been denied for federal assistance to homeowners, renters and businesses in four counties, including Dickinson county, impacted by flooding and severe weather June 6th through July 2nd of this year.
The request was filed through the Individual Assistance Program.
In its denial letter, FEMA says it had determined the impact to individuals and households was not of such severity and magnitude to warrant a designation.
The Governor says she plans to file an appeal.
Governor Reynolds was notified earlier this week that her request for funding for repair of public infrastructure that was damaged during the same period had been approved for 30 counties, including Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Kossuth, Lyon, O'Brien, Osceola, Palo Alto, Pocahontas and Sioux counties in our area.
