Federated REA Says The Number Of Its Members Without Power Dropped Significantly Today (Sat.)
(Jackson, Mn.)-- Officials with Federated Rural Electric Association of Jackson say the number of its members still without power dropped significantly today (Saturday) as crews made tremendous progress in restoration efforts.
General Manager Scott Reimer says as of 7:00 pm the number of the cooperative's members without power had dropped to 228.
Reimer says about 400 had power restored around 1:00 pm today (Sat.) when Great River Energy, the major supplier of electricity for Federated, energized the west Lakefield substation. He says shortly after that the Round Lake and Minneota substations were backfed. Reimer says crews restored power to other sections that returned electric service to another 400 members.
Reimer says crews are now concentrating on smaller sections that restore fewer members. In addition, he says the damage is still heavy, making for slower progress.
Reimer says crews will continue to work Sunday and that they hope to be close to having all members back on line by late in the day Sunday.
