(Okoboji)-An opening reception will be held for a new exhibit at the PLAC on April 26. KUOO's Becky Thoreson has details:
A new exhibit, Faces of Iowa State, will open at the Pearson Lakes Art Center on Thursday evening. Visual Arts Director Danielle Clouse Gast explains. "Faces of Iowa State comes to us from University Museums down at Iowa State University, and they've created this exhibit to travel around the state to various institutions, and was actually brought to our attention by University Museums along with Iowa State's Extension's office. We thought it would be an excellent fit and excited to share it here in Okoboji."
She adds that the exhibit features portraits by celebrated artist Rose Frantzen. "It's comprised of 38 individual portraits of people that are alumni, faculty and even current students of Iowa State University, often nominated by the various departments at the University, and so there is a variety of ages pictured and they're all individual portraits about 12 by 12 inches in size."
An opening reception will be held from 5-7 Thursday evening. A second exhibit, The Haiti Portrait Project, will also open Thursday at the Pearson Lakes Art Center in Okoboji.
