E'Ville City Council Approves Development Agreement Allowing Company To Expand; Approves Re-Zoning For Apartment Complex

(Estherville)-- A planned expansion of a company in Estherville has the green to proceed. The city council Monday evening approved a development agreement which will allow Redwood Farms to construct a refrigeration facility. The agreement also calls for the city to provide a $25,000 grant to assist in project costs. The council approved the agreement following a public hearing.

Plans for the construction of a new apartment complex in Estherville also cleared another hurdle Monday evening. The council approved a proposal to rezone land for the project in the area of 3rd Avenue North and North 5th Street. The action followed a public hearing. Representatives of Estherville Foods, which is just west of the proposed project site, said they wanted to be sure the developers of the project are aware of their operations and possible concerns with a slight odor, traffic and noise. A representative of Eagle Construction said they are prepared to make the necessary provisions in their plans to mitigate that...E'Ville Foods & Apt Project 

In other business, the Estherville City Council adopted an administrative plan for voluntary property acquisition under the Hazard Mitigation FEMA Grant Program. The city plans to purchase a house that's in an area prone to flooding and will demolish it, converting the area to green space.
