Estherville Traffic Stop Results In Arrest Of Ankeny Man

(Estherville)-- A traffic stop this past Sunday evening in Estherville resulted in the arrest of an Ankeny man.

Police say an officer pulled over a vehicle shortly after 8:00 pm for an alleged traffic violation. Upon further investigation it was learned the driver, 36-year-old Justin Lownes, had a suspended driver's license. The officer also reported smelling marijuana coming from the vehicle.

Lownes was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license and operation without registration.

Police also obtained and executed a search warrant on the vehicle, resulting in them finding what's alleged to be marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Lownes was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance...marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to provide proof of financial liability.

Lownes made an initial appearance in court and was released after posting a $1,000 bond.
