Estherville Shooting Results In Minor Injuries; Suspect Arrested On Numerous Charges

(Estherville)-- A shooting Wednesday evening in Estherville left one person with minor injuries and landed a suspect in jail on multiple charges.
Police say it happened around 4:45 pm when officers were called to the 500 block of South 11th Street after getting a report of shots being fired and that a person had been wounded. Officers located the victim in the 500 block of 11th Street who stated that he had been driving down the street and was shot at. The victim sustained minor injuries and was treated on the scene by paramedics. The vehicle he was driving was also damaged by the gunfire.
The victim gave officers the suspect's location. Police were able to establish a perimeter around that location as they learned additional information from witnesses. A crisis team with the HEAT Tactical unit made contact with the suspect. He and another person in the residence surrendered and were taken into custody without incident.
The suspect was identified as 54-year-old Christopher Thomas Anderson of Estherville. He was charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon, a class “C” felony, reckless use of a firearm, a class “D” felony, and discharging a firearm in city limits, a simple misdemeanor.
Anderson was booked into the Emmet county jail pending an initial court appearance.
Authorities say the incident remains under investigation and that additional search warrants were being executed. They say additional charges are expected.
