Estherville Man Facing Multiple Charges Stemming From An Assault
(Estherville)-- Multiple charges have been filed against an Estherville man as the result of an assault.
Estherville police say they were called June 10th to 533 South 8th Street after getting a report that a woman had been assaulted at that location.
Upon investigating officers learned a woman had arrived at that address to give the suspect in the case, Quamaine Butler of Estherville, a ride to his vehicle. Witnesses stated Butler reached into the car to take the keys from the victim's vehicle. Butler is accused of grabbing the victim's hand, then put his arm around her neck and started to choke her. Butler then allegedly began to bite the victim on her head and neck. Authorities say Butler allegedly knocked a phone out of the hand of another female who was attempting to call 911, breaking the screen. A third party was able to notify law enforcement.
After speaking with those involved, police say Butler fled on foot as they were attempting to take him into custody. Officers pursued Butler and found him a short time later hiding in behind a shed in the 500 block of South 9th Street. Butler was taken into custody and was booked into jail on charges of domestic abuse, domestic with strangulation impeding breathing, simple assault, obstruction of emergency communication, criminal mischief in the 5th degree and interference with official acts.
Butler was being held in the Emmet county jail on a $10,000 cash only bond.
