Estherville Man Arrested On Warrants For Drug Charges
(Estherville)-- An Estherville man wanted on Emmet county warrants for drug charges was taken into custody Tuesday.
Estherville police say Daniel Acosta was wanted on charges of possession of a controlled substance, failure to affix a drug tax stamp and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police say the charges stem from an investigation going back to December of 2019.
Acosta was arrested while inside his vehicle, which was parked at the Dollar General Store in Estherville. Upon transporting Acosta to jail, officers saw some drug paraphernalia in his possession. A k-9 unit was deployed on the vehicle resulting in officers finding additional drug paraphernalia and what's believed to be methamphetamine.
An additional charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was lodged against Acosta, and authorities say additional charges may be pending.
Acosta was booked into the Emmet county jail and has since been released following an initial court appearance and posting a $25,000 unsecured bond.
