Estherville Man Accused Of Sexually Abusing A Child

(Estherville)-- An Estherville man has been arrested in a sexual abuse investigation.

Estherville police say they received a report last month from a resident stating her six-year-old daughter had been the possible victim of sexual abuse between May 1st, 2018 and July 1st, 2018. Police forwarded information they gathered in a subsequent investigation to the Iowa Department of Human Services.

On April 25th, a suspect in the case, 26-year-old Angel Hernandez-Gutierrez of Estherville, was arrested and charged with sexual abuse in the 2nd degree. He was booked into jail on a $25,000 bond.

Authorities also learned through their investigation that Hernandez-Gutierrez had allegedly falsified his identity to get a job on November 16th, 2018. He was additionally charged with forgery. Bond on that charge was set at $5,000 cash or surety.

Hernandez-Gutierrez is also being held on an ICE detainer.
