(Estherville)-It's the annual Parade of Lights in Estherville Thursday evening, KUOO's Becky Thoreson has details:
The Estherville Chamber of Commerce presents the annual Holiday Parade of Lights and Chocolate Walk on Thursday evening. Chamber Executive Director Lexie Ruter says the Chocolate Walk will get underway at 4 o'clock. "You can go around to all of our retailers, they have great store specials and deals, and they have delicious treats and drinks, and it's really a fun night to kick off your holiday season and your holiday shopping. Then at 7 o'clock, the stores close, and everyone's encouraged to come out to Central Avenue and we have our lighted Parade of Lights."
She notes that this year's parade theme is favorite holiday activity. "All the floats are lit up, and they do the theme. We have Iowa Lakes Electric who always does a fantastic job with their float. A bunch of businesses get into it, the college gets into it, some of our banks get into it and our credit union. The usually do some really fantastic light displays. At the end, Santa comes in on his house, he's the last float in the parade, and when the parade is all done, he comes back to Library Square, and the kids help him light the square."
The parade will start at 7 pm and run west to east along Central Avenue in Downtown Estherville Thursday evening.
