(Spirit Lake)-- Efforts to get Dickinson county designated a Home Base Iowa County are kicking into high gear. JoAnne Follon heads up the program on behalf of the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation. She tells KUOO news the goal is for Dickinson county to have the designation by November 1st.

Follon says those transitioning from the military into civilian life can play a vital role in filling a huge demand for skilled workers. She says that's a major factor behind the corridor's involvement in spearheading the program locally. So far in their four-county service area, Clay and Emmet counties have already obtained Home Base Iowa designations while Buena Vista county is in the process of submitting its paperwork. Follon says the goal is to get Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson and Emmet counties as the first region in Iowa to receive the designation.

Any business in Dickinson county wishing to participate in the Home Base Iowa program should contact Follon at (712) 264-3474.
