Early Voting Now Underway For Nov. 6th Election

Mon 10-8-2018

(Spirit Lake)-- Early voting for the November 6th election officially started today (Mon.). Jordan Moyer, Elections Clerk at the Dickinson County Auditor's Office, says voters wishing to cast ballots early can do so by stopping the office...Early Voting01 (1)

"It goes from October 8th and we go until November 5th, which is the day before the election. We're open at the courthouse from 8:00 to 4:30 and we're actually open the two Saturdays before the election, and that would be October 27th and November 3rd from 8:00 to 5:00."

Moyer says you can also request an absentee ballot be mailed to you...Early Voting02 (1)

"You can call our office and we can mail one to you, an absentee ballot request, otherwise you can either go on to our website,, or you can go on to the Secretary of State's website as well and print out an official absentee ballot request form, and then you would mail it back to our office and when we get that we will mail you the ballot. You'll also have a prepaid envelope in there, so just send that back to our office after you vote the ballot."

Moyer says they've been getting quite a few requests for absentee ballots...Early Voting03 (1)

"You can actually request a ballot 125 days before an election. We're actually close to about 500 absentee voters. Any idea on how that compares with previous elections? I would say this is actually quite a bit, there's a couple of heated races on there, you know, the supervisor's race and also races that are on the state level, so I think with this one it's a little bit higher. I'm not exactly sure what the numbers were last time."

Polls election day, November 6th, will be open from 7:00 am until 9:00 pm.
