DNR Monitoring Diesel Spill In Lyon County

Tue 6-19-2018

(Little Rock)-- The Iowa Department of Natural Resources has been monitoring a diesel spill that happened Monday in a semi crash in Lyon county.

Authorities say fewer than 100 gallons of diesel fuel leaked when the semi's fuel tank was punctured in a crash that happened in the area of Marsh Avenue and County Road A-34 about four miles south of Little Rock.

DNR officials say heavy rains carried the fuel into Whitney Creek, a tributary of the Little Rock River and Rock River. Booms and pads were deployed, but officials say the quickly moving water made it difficult to completely contain the spill.

The agency says it's continuing to monitor the situation.
