Disturbance Investigation Leads To Arson Charge
(Estherville)-- An investigation into a disturbance at a residence in Estherville over the weekend resulted in the arrest of an Armstrong man on several charges, including arson.
The Estherville Police Department says officers were called around 5:00 a.m. Saturday to the 400 block of South 13th Street. Upon arriving police found two men arguing in front of 1208 3rd Avenue South. Officers determined the owner of that home was confronting a man who had been in the residence. Police identified the suspect at 19-year-old Jeffrey Brickner of Armstrong.
Upon further investigation officers learned Brickner went to the residence looking for individuals responsible for allegedly assaulting a member of his family. Officers discovered that Brickner allegedly had tried to start a fire in the house using the kitchen stove and some paper. Brickner was also found to be in possession of several items allegedly taken from the residence.
Brickner was arrested and booked into the Emmet county jail on charges of arson in the 2nd degree...a class "C" felony; burglary in the 3rd degree...a class "D" felony; going armed with intent...a class "D" felony, and public intoxication, a simple misdemeanor.
Brickner made an initial court appearance and was released after posting a $10,000 cash or surety bond.
