Director Of NW Iowa Small Business Development Center Honored

(Spencer)-- The Director of the Northwest Iowa Small Business Development Center in Spencer has received some national recognition. Kelly McCarty has been named the 2015 Iowa "State Star" by the SBDC's national organization. The award is presented each year to a local SBDC office exhibiting exemplary work performance, its contribution to economic development and for showing a strong commitment to small business. McCarty tells KUOO news he was completely caught off guard by the award...McCarty01 

McCarty will be formally recognized at a reception during the America's SBDC  National Fall Conference in San Francisco, California in September. He'll alos be part of an exclusive group to visit the headquarters of Facebook, Intuit and Google. In the spring, McCarty will travel to Washington, D.C...McCarty02 

The Northwest Iowa Small Business Development Center is operated by Iowa Lakes Community College and serves a 10-county area...McCarty03 

McCarty, who's been with the organization since January of 1999, was nominated by his associates for the award.
