Dickinson Soil & Water Conservation District Holds 41st Annual Outdoor Classroom

(Spirit Lake)-- Fourth grade students from several schools in the area will head to the great outdoors today (Thurs.) to learn about the environment.

The Dickinson Soil and Water Conservation District will be holding its 41st annual outdoor classroom today (Thurs.) at the Kettleson-Hogsback area. Students from Graettinger-Terril, Harris-Lake Park, Okoboji and Spirit Lake will be participating.

The students will learn about trees, monarchs, pollination, nocturnes, soil health, waterfowl, boating and water safety, wetlands, and macro invertebrates.

The classes will conducted by representatives of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Dickinson County Conservation Board, Lakeside Lab, Trees Forever, ISU Extension, the Conservation Districts of Iowa and the Natural Resources Conservation Service.
