(Okoboji)-The Bee and Butterfly Festival is on the way this Friday, KUOO's Becky Thoreson has details:
The Dickinson County Nature Center Bee & Butterfly Festival will be held on Friday evening.
Community Relations Coordinator Kylie Roth says, it's the biggest event of the year at the Nature Center. "We have entertainment in our amphitheater. At 5:15, we're going to be honoring one of our longtime donors, Delores Maser and having a little celebration for her. At 6 o'clock we're going to be having Silly Sally, and then at 7 o'clock we'll have our Forgotten Pollinators Program in the lower level of the Nature Center. There's a lot of come and go things from 4 to 7 pm. We will have Monarch tagging inside the Nature Center. We will have Sweetie The Bee handing out honey sticks and taking pictures with kids. Weather dependent, we'll have a hot air balloon that's grounded that people can take photos next to as well."
She notes that everything is free and open to the public, with concessions available for purchase. "The Farm to Fork Food Truck will be here if you want dinner. There's cotton candy for sale for $2. Boernsen Bees will be on hand if you want to take home some honey and the Nature Store will be open if you want a souvenir, but other than that, everything is absolutely free."
The Bee & Butterfly Festival will run from 4-8 Friday at the Dickinson County Nature Center.
