(Des Moines)-- The Iowa Department of Public Health today (Wed.) is reporting seven additional COVID-19 deaths in the state and 275 new cases since 10 a.m. Tuesday. This brings Iowa's total to 22,454 confirmed cases with a death toll of 629.
Across Iowa, 20 COVID-19 patients were admitted to the hospital in the last 24 hours with the state having 245 total patients hospitalized. Of those in the hospital, 73 are in intensive care while 49 are on ventilators.
Locally, the number of positive cases in Dickinson continues to spike. As of late this (Wed.) morning, the county's caseload was up to 74. That's up 12 from Tuesday. Of the 74 cases, 24 have recovered.
In neighboring counties, Clay county was at 38 cases; Emmet at 34; Osceola 41, O'Brien county 58 and Palo Alto county with 9. One death has now been reported from the virus in O'Brien county.
