(Spirit Lake)-- A Des Moines woman faces multiple charges stemming from an incident earlier this month in Dickinson county.

The Dickinson County Sheriff's Office says it received a call shortly before 7:00 pm February 7th on a vehicle in the 3100 block of Highway 71 that was traveling northbound in the southbound lane at a high rate of speed. The reporting party advised the vehicle crossed over into the northbound lane and had its lights turned off. It then turned east onto 250th Street. The occupant got out of the vehicle and went toward a tree line.

Deputies arrived on the scene and spoke with the reporting party and the department's K-9 was deployed to track the individual who got out of the vehicle. The K-9 led deputies to a nearby acreage. Upon approaching they could hear glass breaking. A woman, later identified as 41-year-old Joy Konchalski of Des Moines, was allegedly breaking a window out of a residence.

Upon being booked into jail, a drug recognition expert conducted multiple tests, resulting in Konchalski being charged with operating while intoxicated...1st offense, driving too fast for conditions, failure to maintain control, reckless driving, possession of drug paraphernalia, trespassing, burglary in the 3rd degree and criminal mischief in the 4th degree.

Konchalski remains in the Dickinson county jail on a $7,000 cash or surety bond.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office and Milford police assisted the Dickinson County Sheriff's Office.
