Date Set For Armstrong Mayoral Election
(Armstrong)-- The Emmet County Auditor's Office has announced May 11th has been set as the date for a special election to decide who will be the next mayor of Armstrong. The polling site will be the Armstrong Community Center with voting taking place that day from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm. Early in-person voting will be held April 21st through May 10th. Absentee ballots will be mailed beginning April 21st continuing through April 26th.
Candidates interested in running can pick up the needed forms at the Emmet County Auditor's Office.
The Armstrong City Council appointed David Grussing to serve as Mayor at a meeting in March, however citizens filed a petition with the necessary number of signatures on it calling for a special election.
Former Mayor Greg Buum stepped down following an investigation an into misconduct allegedly involving him and several other city officials, including the Police Chief, who were formally charged and arrested.
