(Superior)-- Two people were injured Monday in a two-vehicle collision near the intersection of Highway 9 and 150th Street east of Superior.

The Dickinson County Sheriff's Office says 78-year-old Sandra Sunde of Estherville was eastbound on Highway 9 and was attempting to turn left onto 150th Street. Authorities say 83-year-old James Bishop of Estherville was westbound on Highway 9 and collided with the rear of Sunde's vehicle, which came to rest in the middle of the road. The vehicle driven by Bishop went into the north ditch.

Both Sunde and Bishop sustained non-incapacitating injuries. Sunde was taken to a hospital by ambulance.

Damage to a 1988 Cadillac Eldorado driven by Sunde was estimated at $12,000; a 1999 Dodge Ram driven by Bishop sustained an estimated $7,500 in damage.

Sunde was cited for failure to yield upon making a left turn.

The collision took place around 4:10 pm.
