Covid-Related Deaths In Iowa Surpass 2,000
(Des Moines)-- Iowa's death toll from COVID-19 has now surpassed 2,000. The Department of Public Health this (Tues.) morning reported an additional 33 deaths related to the virus, bringing the death toll in Iowa to 2,024.
3,563 new cases of the virus were confirmed over the previous 24 hours, ending at 10:00 am this (Tues.) morning with a new daily record for hospitalizations, at 1,510. Of those, 288 were in intensive care units with 130 on ventilators. Health officials say 76 percent of those hospitalized with the virus are age 60 and over.
Locally Clay county was among those reporting the largest number of new cases since Monday, with 19. Dickinson county reported four new cases.
