COVID-19 Cases In Iowa Surging At An Alarming Rate; Hospitalizations Reach All Time High
(Des Moines)-- The number of COVID-19 cases in Iowa continues to surge at an alarming rate. The Iowa Department of Public Health today (Wed.) reported 1,180 new, confirmed cases of the virus for the previous 24 hours ending at 10:00 am this (Wed.) morning, along with 11 additional deaths. The total number of cases so far in the state is at 100,632 with the death toll at 1,492.
473 Iowans are in the hospital with COVID, the highest number since the pandemic began. 106 are in intensive care units with 46 on ventilators.
Locally, eight new cases were reported in the past day in Dickinson county, for a total of 636 since the pandemic began. Of those, 457 have recovered.
Buena Vista county reported one of the highest increases in new cases in the region for the past 24 hours, with 19.
