COVID-19 Cases Continue To Rise Locally And Statewide
(Spirit Lake)-- The number of positive COVID-19 cases continues to increase in several area counties, including Dickinson county, where two more cases were confirmed Wednesday, bringing the county's total so far to 28. Clay county reported three additional cases for a total of 25; Emmet county saw it's cases increase by five for a total of 23; O'Brien county reported three additional cases for a total of 39; Sioux county was up three to 293; Palo Alto county held steady for a total of seven cases so far; Osceola county was also unchanged with 34 total cases; Cherokee was also steady with 36 cases; and Lyon county was unchanged for a total of 25 cases so far. Buena Vista county reported 12 new cases, bringing their total to 972 so far.
Statewide, the Iowa Department of Public Health that for the past 24 hours ending at 10:00 am this (Thurs.) morning there were 694 new cases along with 14 additional deaths. It brings the state's death toll to 578. The agency says 25 COVID-19 patients were admitted to hospitals in the last 24 hours with a total of 310 in the hospital as of this (Thurs.) morning. 76 were on ventilators.
