COVID-19 Cases Continue To Increase Both Locally & Statewide
(Des Moines)-- The Iowa Department of Public Health is reporting an additional 1,183 confirmed, positive cases of COVID-19 in the state from 10:00 am Thursday until 10:00 am today (Fri.). Of the 67,982 positive cases since the pandemic began, 48,994 have recovered.
Three additional deaths related to the virus were reported in the same 24-hour time frame, for a total of 1,137 so far.
There were 317 hospitalizations related to the virus as of Thursday with 87 in intensive care units and 41 on ventilators.
Locally, four additional cases were reported in Dickinson county, bringing the county's total to 436 since the pandemic began. 370 have recovered. The number of deaths related to the virus in the county remained at six.
One of the biggest increases in the region was reported in Plymouth county, with 27 new confirmed cases. Sioux county had 23 new cases.
